My home is the vantage point from which I view the world, and my paintings spring from moments in my domestic environment. I think about the tenuous hold we have on home and its ever-changing parameters. Using the language of abstraction, I re-imagine home life and reposition impermanence as a natural state of existence.
Yet this ephemeral nature of life does not always make for a dark and dangerous world and can instead, at times, add joy and inspiration to our lives. To capture life’s capricious nature, I inject a sense of whimsy to my work, while at the same time allowing for the appearance of the unexpected.
